31 century museum station

T-shirt, in my definition is an art work and it is also a space to display as a mobile art. T-shirt is like a canvas whichartists can communicate their thought freely, whether the image has chosen or re-created on T-shirts. The 31 Century Museum of Contemporary Spirits (Station) currently collects T-shirt by Superflex, Taring Padi, Mr. Rirkrit Tiravanija, Mr. Wasan Sittiket, Mr. Manop Rattanarithikul and Dr. Rampa Rattanarithikul, and the Red Shirt. 31th Century Museum of Contemporary Spirit (Station) will collect more T-shirts from other artists and cultural activists in the near future.

เสื้อยืดในความหมายของผมหมือนกับเป็นที่แสดงผลงานศิลปะเคลื่อนที่และเป็นผลงานทางศิลปะ เสื้อยืดเปรียบเสมือนผืนผ้าใบที่ศิลปินแต่ละคนสื่อสารเสรีภาพทางความคิด ไม่ว่าจะเป็นภาพที่เลือกมาใส่หรือภาพที่สร้างขึ้นใหม่บนเสื้อยืด โดยขณะนี้ พิพิธภัณฑ์จิตวิญญาณร่วมสมัยแห่งศตวรรษที่ 31 ได้เก็บเสื้อยืดของศิลปินกลุ่ม Superflex, Taring Padi, คุณฤกษ์ฤทธิ์ ตีระวนิช, คุณวสันต์ สิทธิเขตต์, คุณมานพ และ ดร.รัมภา รัตนฤทธิกุล และกลุ่มคนเสื้อแดง ซึ่งทางพิพิธภัณฑ์จิตวิญญาณร่วมสมัยแห่งศตวรรษที่ 31 จะทำการเก็บรวบรวมเสื้อยืดที่ทำขึ้นโดยศิลปินและนักวัฒนธรรมท่านอื่นเพิ่มขึ้นในอนาคต

Supeflex

“FOREIGNER DON’T LEAVE ME ALONE WITH THE DANES”

Supeflex is the group of Danish artist. The group makes this T-shirt to criticize the Danish social during the anti-minority period in Denmark. Since minorities come to live and strive for work amongst the native, so the Danish get up to protest. Supeflex makes the T-shirt which screened “FOREIGNER DON’T LEAVE ME ALONE WITH THE DANES” and ware it to protest against Danish anti-minority. I think their T-shirt is very interesting, that they criticize their own culture and social system. It shows the awareness of human rights and social equality.

“IF VALUE THEN COPY”

As we are all realize that it is illegal to copy or commit the privacy violation and it would be denounced as a plagiarist. But if we looked over the business condition, the prohibition to replicate or copy even the copyright was limited to our knowledge, creativity and sharing, it is forced to become the privacy property. Why don’t we share all those good and valuable things to others? I am interested in the phrase “IF VALUE THEN COPY” on this T-shirt which meant to deny the value and ego of art. Whatever it makes benefit for people or social, we should share. This would be an inspiration to others which could become an endless creativity not only for the privacy property.

Supeflex เป็นกลุ่มศิลปินเดนมาร์ก มีแนวคิดจัดทำเสื้อยืดตัวนี้ขึ้นเพื่อวิพากษ์สังคมเดนมาร์กในช่วงที่มีกระแส ต่อต้านชนกลุ่มน้อย (Minority) เนื่องจากชนกลุ่มน้อยซึ่งเป็นคนชนชาติอื่นที่เข้ามาอาศัยแย่งอาชีพคนในประเทศ จึงเกิดการประท้วงของคนเดนมาร์ก ทางกลุ่ม Supeflex จึงทำเสื้อยืดที่มีข้อความว่า “Foreigner don’t, leave me alone with the Danes” และนำมาใส่ประท้วงชาวเดนมาร์กที่ประท้วงต่อต้านชนชาติอื่น

สำหรับผมคิดว่าเสื้อตัวนี้มีความน่าสนใจมากตรงที่เป็นการวิพากษ์กระแสสังคมและวัฒนธรรมของตนเอง แสดงให้เห็นถึงความตระหนักในสิทธิของมนุษย์ (Human Right) ที่เท่าเทียมกันในสังคม

“IF VALUE THEN COPY”

เป็นที่รู้กันดีว่าการละเมิดลิขสิทธิ์หรือการลอกเลียนแบบนั้นเป็นเรื่องผิดกฎหมาย ถูกตราหน้าว่าเป็นการโจรกรรมทรัพย์สินทางปัญญา แต่หากมองข้ามเงื่อนไขทางการค้าออกไป การห้ามทำซ้ำ ลอกเลียนแบบหรือจดลิขสิทธิ์นั้น ได้จำกัดการรับรู้และแบ่งปันความคิดสร้างสรรค์ให้กลายเป็นเพียงทรัพย์สินส่วนบุคคลไปเท่านั้น หากสิ่งสิ่งนั้นเป็นสิ่งที่ดีมีคุณค่า เหตุใดเราจึงไม่เปิดกว้างหรือแบ่งปันสู่ผู้อื่น ผมสนใจข้อความ “if value then copy” บนเสื้อตัวนี้ที่สื่อถึงการปฏิเสธคุณค่าและความเป็นอัตตาความเชื่อดั้งเดิมของงานศิลปะ หากสิ่งใดที่มีคุณค่าหรือมีประโยชน์ต่อผู้อื่นและสังคม เราควรที่จะเผยแพร่ให้ได้รับรู้และชื่นชมในคุณค่านั้น ซึ่งอาจจะได้ต่อยอดให้เป็นแรงบันดาลใจออกไป เพื่อให้เกิดการสร้างสรรค์ที่ไม่สิ้นสุดเพียงแค่เป็นสมบัติส่วนบุคคลเท่านั้น

เสื้อแดง (The Red Shirt)

Human has ability to think and freedom of expression his thought or act beyond any conditions and limitations. Hence, the freedom of expression is the Basic Rights of all human, not depending on race, religion, believes, the color of the shirt you wear. The message screened on this T-shirt shows us the basic freedom which every people have and also shows us the freedom to think, write, print and speak which we are all equally have, no matter which side or color you are.

มนุษย์เป็นสิ่งมีชีวิตที่สามารถคิดได้ มีเสรีภาพที่จะคิดและแสดงออก นอกเหนือเงื่อนไขและข้อจำกัดต่างๆ นานา ดังนั้นการแสดงออกทางความคิดจึงเป็นสิทธิขั้นพื้นฐานของมนุษย์ทุกคน ไม่จำกัดว่าจะเป็นชนชาติใด ศาสนาใด เชื่อแบบไหน หรือใส่เสื้อสีอะไร ซึ่งข้อความบนเสื้อตัวนี้ได้แสดงให้เห็นถึงเสรีภาพที่ประชาชนทุกคนพึงมีและสามารถแสดงออกในการคิด เขียน พิมพ์หรือพูดอย่างเท่าเทียมกัน ไม่ว่าจะอยู่ฝ่ายไหนหรือสีอะไรก็ตาม

It does not matter who you are in this social, we are all being watched and we are all know the reaction from what we have done. We cannot do whatever we want. Every action is continually effect to the social which is the number recorded in our history.

“NO COUNTRY FOR OLD PRIME MINISTER”
The power corrupted is not always ended up beautifully. It is the meaning of the righteous supposes to be. This phrase is questioning us to realize and concern of our power, whatever which level we are. Will we use our in the right way or seize all the benefit for ourselves?

อาจสื่อถึงการลุกขึ้นมาเปิดเผยหรือแสดงตัวจากสิ่งที่ต้องปิดบังอยู่ หรืออาจหมายถึงการออกมายอมรับความเป็นไปที่ควรจะเป็น เพื่อสำนึกและตระหนังถึงคุณค่าของความจริงในตัวเองรวมทั้งในสังคมที่เราอยู่

“THE DAYS OF THIS SOCIETY IS NUMBERED”
ไม่ว่าคุณจะเป็นใครในสังคมนี้ เราต่างกำลังถูกจับตามองหรือแม้แต่ตัวเราเองก็รู้ตัวว่าอะไรกำลังจะเกิดขึ้น จากการกระทำของเรา ไม่ใช่ว่าเราสามารถจะทำอะไรตามความต้องการของตัวเองได้ทุกอย่าง ทุกการกระทำมีผลต่อเนื่องกันในสังคม ซึ่งก็คือตัวเลขที่ถูกบันทึกลงในประวัติศาสตร์ที่กำลังดำเนินผ่านไปทุกคืนวัน

จุดจบของอำนาจที่ไม่โปรงใสล้วนไม่สวยงาม นั่นคือความหมายของความถูกต้องที่ควรเกิดขึ้น ไม่ว่าในประเทศไหนหรือยุคไหน ซึ่งประโยคนี้ได้ตั้งคำถามให้คนได้ตระหนักและนึกถึงอำนาจในมือเราทุกคนไม่ว่าจะเป็นระดับไหน ว่าเราจะใช้อำนาจนั้นอย่างถูกต้องหรือเพียงหาประโยชน์ใส่ตัวเท่านั้น

Taring Padi, a group of young Indonesian artists made this T-shirt to protest the invasion of Iraq when the President of the United State, Gorge W. Bush visited Indonesia in 2006.

เมื่อปลาย พ.ศ. 2549 ประธานาธิปดี จอร์จ ดับเบิลยู บุซ แห่งสหรัฐอเมริกาได้เดินทางเยือนประเทศอินโดนิเซีย ซึ่งในขณะนั้นเพิ่งจะผ่านเหตุการณ์สหรัฐบุกโจมตีอิรักไม่นาน กลุ่ม Taring Padi จึงได้จัดทำเสื้อยืดตัวนี้ขึ้นมาเพื่อแสดงจุดยืนในการต่อต้านเหตุสงครามครั้งนั้น

“No Nuke Now” is the silk screen T-shirt designed by Mr. Wasan Sittiket to protest against France Nuclear Campaigned and distributed to the public at Siam Square area and does performance art in front of the France Embassy in Bangkok. The T-shirt “Let’s stop war” made to protest against the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq in 2003. In my opinion, the artist sincerely to find out the meaning of life that insists for justice, freedom and peace through do art. Although, his art works generally might seem rough and raw or frankness which contrary to the social norms and value. Nevertheless I see his honest, social concern and the freedom of expression moreover than good or bad, right or wrong according to the social norms.

“No Nuke Now” เป็นเสื้อยืดต่อต้านการทดลองระเบิดนิวเคลียร์ของคุณวสันต์ สิทธิเขตต์ จัดทำข้อความด้วยเทคนิคผ้าพิมพ์ตระแกรงไหม แล้วรณรงค์แจกจ่ายให้ประชาชนย่านสยามแสควร์ และร่วมกันทำศิลปะการแสดงที่หน้าบ้านพักทูตฝรั่งเศส เสื้อยืด “Let’s stop war” ทำเพื่อต่อต้านการรุกรานของอเมริกาต่ออัฟกานิสถานและอิรัก ในพ.ศ. 2549 โดยส่วนตัวข้าพเจ้าคิดว่า ศิลปินมีความจริงใจในการค้นหาคุณค่าของชีวิตและเรียกร้องความยุติธรรม เสรีภาพและสันติภาพ โดยใช้ศิลปะเป็นสื่อมาโดยตลอด แม้ในบางครั้ง ผลงานอาจจะดูดิบหยาบและขัดต่อคุณค่าทางศีลธรรมของสังคมหรือมีความตรงไปตรงมาสูง แต่ข้าพเจ้ากลับรู้สึกได้ถึงความซื่อสัตย์และสำนึกทางสังคม บวกกับการมีเสรีภาพในการแสดงออกอย่างสูงที่มีอยู่ในตัวของศิลปิน มากกว่าความถูกหรือผิด ดีหรือเลว ตามความบรรทัดฐานทางสังคม

Only the appearance of this T-shirt which full of holes can easily attract and stimulate the interest from the watcher. It would be much more interesting when we know its origins and creator, Manop Rattanarithikul and Rampa Rattanarithikul, the founder of the Museum of World Insects and Natural Wonders. Inspired by Rirkrit Tiravanija’s work, means of freedom and the game of power between China and Tibet which is the hot issue of the global politics, the phrase “FREE CHINA FROM TIBET” stimulating us to a paradoxical question on this circumstance.

From the different point of view, Rungsak acts straightforwardly to this phrase by crossing out the words “FREE” and “FROM” only the words “CHINA” and “TIBET” remain creating a new meaning according to his believe. In my opinion, the trace of words on this T-shirt refer to the equality between China and Tibet, it is also refer to the equality of all human being. Moreover, this T-shirt shows us freedom and equality of conceptual criticizes between young artist and well-know artist.

จากผลงานของฤกษ์ฤทธิ์ ตีระวนิช ที่สื่อถึงเสรีภาพและเกมแห่งอำนาจระหว่างจีนกับธิเบตที่เป็นประเด็นทางการเมืองระดับโลก ด้วยเสื้อยืดที่มีข้อความ “ปลดปล่อยจีนจากธิเบต” ซึ่งเป็นข้อความที่กระตุ้นให้เกิดการตั้งคำถามยอกย้อนต่อสถานการณ์จริงที่เกิดขึ้น

รุ่งศักดิ์ได้แสดงออกอย่างตรงไปตรงมาต่อข้อความโดยการขีดฆ่าคำว่า “ปลดปล่อย” และ “จาก” เหลือเพียงคำว่า “จีน” และ “ธิเบต” เพื่อให้เกิดความหมายใหม่ตามความเชื่อของเขา ซึ่งรุ่งศักดิ์มีความเห็นต่างจากฤกษ์ฤทธิ์ จากมุมมองของผมคำที่หลงเหลืออยู่ในเสื้อ บ่งบอกถึงความเท่าเทียมกันของทั้งสองประเทศระหว่างจีนกับธิเบตและแสดงถึงคุณค่าของมนุษย์ที่มีความเท่าเทียมกัน รวมทั้งยังแสดงให้เห็นถึงเสรีภาพและความเสมอภาคในการโต้ตอบวิพากษ์วิจารณ์ทางความคิดระหว่างศิลปินรุ่นใหม่และศิลปินที่ได้รับการยอมรับในระดับนานาชาติ
