I think the biggest influences for me are my parents, my father especially. I found out, one day, that he named me after a man in Singapore who started the Malay opera movement in 1960s. It somehow makes me feel that I’m destined to be an artist, because my father named me after one, who was a Malay opera director. So this idea still lives in me to be a creative person in the creative world all because of my father.

ผมคิดว่าอิทธิพลที่ใหญ่ที่สุดในชีวิตของผม มาจากพ่อแม่ของผมเอง โดยเฉพาะพ่อ วันหนึ่งผมเพิ่งพบว่า พ่อตั้งชื่อผมจากชื่อของชายผู้หนึ่งในสิงคโปร์ ที่เป็นผู้ริเริ่มการเคลื่อนไหวของอุปรากรมาเลย์ในช่วงยุค 60 มันทำให้ผมรู้สึกว่าผมถูกลิขิตให้มาเป็นศิลปิน เพราะพ่อผมตั้งชื่อผมจากชื่อศิลปินคนหนึ่ง ซึ่งเป็นผู้กำกับอุปรากรมาเลย์ ดังนั้นความคิดนี้ยังคงมีชีวิตในตัวผม ที่ทำผมให้เป็นคนสร้างสรรค์ในโลกที่สร้างสรรค์นี้ และทั้งหมดก็เป็นเพราะพ่อของผม
