047 : A beam scale from Taisho era

047----Kazumi Sakurai

This is a beam scale from the Taisho period which was used by my father. It has a Japanese traditional measurement system, Shaku-Kan-Ho. It is made of Stainless alloy and is still shiny without any rust. When I became independent in 1955, my father gave it to me by saying that is was necessary when I scaled the vegetables and also very useful when I posted ceramics. My father has already passed away. It is now a memento of my father. It has been 50years since I opened my own shop in Katamachi and my mother gave me wooden Soroban for the occasion. Both are family treasures passed from my father to me then to my children.
