Short Film

The pictures shown in this film are partly taken from my uncle’s funeral, which was done solely to document as a family memo. This was until Kamin Lertchaiprasert encouraged me to join this event, which reminded me of the anonymous man in the funeral.This man would often partake in many local funerals, which he himself isn’t acquainted with. He would eat, live and sleep at each funeral until it ends. People often question this stranger when they first saw him, but his actions eventually made the hosts and others implicitly feel that he is a part of their ceremony. At first, I intended to film the life of this man all over again. But considering this to be a sensitive issue for this man and the locals and I do not want to separate his daily life from his environment. Hence I reviewed the videos of the funeral I’ve shot and found his presence in many scenes. I decided to take what I’ve got and edited them into this short film. The reason behind this man’s actions is not important, but his actions have created movement and impulsion upon the surrounding people, without their awareness.

ภาพในหนังเรื่องนี้ตัดต่อมาจากส่วนหนึ่งของพิธีฌาปนกิจศพของน้าชายข้าพเจ้า ซึ่งตั้งใจถ่ายไว้เพื่อเป็นบันทึกความทรงจำของครอบครัวเท่านั้น จนอาจารย์คามิน เลิศชัยประเสริฐ ได้ชวนเข้าร่วมนิทรรศการนี้ ทำให้นึกถึงชายนิรนามผู้หนึ่งที่ได้พบในงานศพของน้าชาย ชายผู้นี้มักจะเข้ามาช่วยงานพิธีศพของบุคคลต่าง ๆ ในพื้นที่ ที่ตัวเขาเองไม่รู้จัก กินอยู่อาศัย และนอนเฝ้าศพจนกระทั่งเสร็จงาน ทุกคนต่างตั้งคำถามกับชายแปลกหน้าผู้นี้ เมื่อแรกเจอ แต่ด้วยสิ่งที่เขาทำนั้นทำให้เจ้าภาพ และคนทั่วไปรู้สึกว่าชายผู้นี้เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของงานศพนั้น ๆ ไปโดยปริยาย ในตอนแรกข้าพเจ้าตั้งใจจะเข้าไปถ่ายทำชีวิตของชายผู้นี้ใหม่อีกครั้ง แต่ก็เป็นเรื่องละเอียดอ่อนมากต่อความรู้สึกของชายผู้นี้กับคนในพื้นที่ซึ่งข้าพเจ้าไม่อยากที่จะแยกการใช้ชีวิตของเขาออกมาจากสภาพแวดล้อมที่เค้าอยู่ จึงกลับมานั่งดูภาพวีดีโองานศพของน้าชายที่เคยถ่ายไว้ปรากฏว่ามีภาพวีดีโอบางส่วนที่เห็นชายผู้นี้ได้ปะปนอยู่ในงาน และตัดสินใจที่จะนำภาพวีดีโอที่ปรากฏชายผู้นี้ มาสร้างเป็นหนังสั้น อะไรที่ทำให้ชายผู้นี้ทำเช่นนั้น อาจจะไม่ใช่คำถาม แต่การกระทำของเค้าได้สร้างแรงเคลื่อนไหว และเป็นแรงผลักดันผู้คนรอบข้างอย่างไม่รู้ตัวก็เป็นไปได้
