Interview

The person who impresses me is Doctor Taweesak Nopakesorn. I like him for the fact that he’s simple and informal. What also impresses me about him is that he is punctual, responsible and forthright. Once as lecturer in a conference, before his lecture, there was another lecturer before him who spent more than his share of time that was agreed. The time that was left for Dr.Taweesak was only 20 minutes before noon, so the moderator asked him to be brief so as not to delay lunchtime and other following programs. The doctor replied that he didn’t cause the error. If there isn’t any system to maintain punctuality, then don’t bother to invite him in the future, because the contents given to the participants in the conference would be disturbed. The third thing that impressed me was, once when he was a chairman at a conference, he illuminated the regulations of the conference. There was this particular participant that was late, who came and went as he pleases without any respect for the regulations. The doctor sent a formal letter to that participant’s original affiliation to inform them the participant’s irresponsibility.

His words that stuck with me till this day is we are not responsible for other’s irresponsibility, if we pamper to their flaws, in time it will become habitual allowing them take advantage of other people in the future.

คนที่ฉันประทับใจคือ นายแพทย์ทวีศักดิ์ นพเกษร ชอบที่ท่านเป็นคนเรียบง่ายมากกว่าพิธีรีตรอง เรื่องที่สองที่ประทับใจในตัวท่านคือ ท่านเป็นคนที่ตรงเวลา รับผิดชอบ และกล้าพูดในสิ่งที่ถูกต้อง ในการเข้าร่วมประชุมครั้งหนึ่ง คุณหมอเป็นวิทยากร ก่อนหน้าที่ท่านจะขึ้นพูด ก็มีวิทยากรท่านอื่นพูดก่อน ซึ่งพูดยาวและเกินเวลาของคุณหมอไปมาก ทำให้เหลือเวลาพูดแค่อีก 20 นาทีก่อนเที่ยง ผู้ดำเนินรายการจึงขอให้คุณหมอช่วยสรุปสั้น ๆ เพื่อไม่เสียเวลากินข้าวและทำให้ล่าช้ากระบวนการอื่น ๆ คุณหมอตอบกลับไปว่า อันที่จริงความผิดไม่ได้เกิดจากคุณหมอ หากไม่สามารถควบคุมเวลา คราวหน้าอย่าเชิญคุณหมอมาอีก เพราะสาระที่ผู้เข้าร่วมประชุมจะได้รับนั้น ไม่ครบถ้วน เรื่องที่สามที่ประทับใจอีกเรื่องคือ ครั้งที่ท่านเป็นประธานการประชุม ได้ชี้แจงผู้เข้าร่วมประชุมให้รับทราบถึงกฎระเบียบในการประชุม ซึ่งมีผู้เข้าร่วมประชุมท่านหนึ่งมาประชุมสายและเข้าออกตามใจตัวเอง ไม่ทำตามกฎระเบียบ คุณหมอจึงทำหนังสือถึงหน่วยงานต้นสังกัดว่าบุคคลผู้นี้ขาดความรับผิดชอบ

คำพูดของคุณหมอที่ทำให้ยึดถือมาจนถึงปัจจุบันนี้คือ เราไม่มีหน้าที่รับผิดชอบคนที่ขาดความรับผิดชอบ เพราะหากเราทำหน้าที่แทนเขาหลาย ๆ ครั้ง เขาจะเคยตัว และในที่สุดเขาก็จะกลายเป็นคนเอาเปรียบผู้อื่น
