This is a slide rule that I used in around 1970’s. Its material is bamboo. It is to say that it takes one and half year to make a slide rule after cutting bamboo because of reacting to the alteration of humidity.　　This slide rule has great ability in various calculations such as a surplus calculation, trigonometric, a logarithm, a parallel root, and the cube root, e.t.c.  At that time, there was no comuter nor calculator.

計算尺・ルーペ・本

１９７０年頃に使用していた計算尺です。材質は竹で湿度変化に対応するため、制作には伐採から約１年半の月日を要したと言われます。この計算尺で、乗除算、三角関数、対数、平行根、立方根等色々な計算ができます。関数電卓の登場で1980年頃には姿を消しました。これは比較的大型のもので、普通は１／３位が一般的な大きさです。当時は大阪万国博覧会のランドマーク（展望台、高さ127メートル）の建設に携わっていました。これを使って物量や測量、技術計算などをしていました。当時はパソコンは無論のこと、電卓（卓上電子式計算機）もまだ普及していない時代でした。時代の流れを実感しています。
