It is just recently that I am able to take a good look at this kimono with fondness. During when I was training as a manager for a musician who played traditonal Japanese music, we stayed in a household of the musician’s acquaintance. It was as it used to be in old times to be in offered meals and lodging in return of providing entertaiment. Feeling nervous and insecure as I was, the wife gave me this antique kimono which she brought along from her hometown. It was aged and color faded. There were moth holes here and there but I was attracted to its light texture and graceful appeal. This piece instantly brings back those sesitive yet rich moments of my experience.

着物

最近ようやく日のあたるところに出して眺められるようになった着物。邦楽音楽家のマネジメントとして就業中の頃。講演のため、あるご家庭に１週間お世話になりました。芸の代りに宿を頂くという呈のちょっと慣れない経験。緊張気味の私に奥様が実家から持ってきたという着物を譲ってくださった。年期が入り褪せた色柄。虫食いもあるけれど品のいい生地。私にとって濃厚で渋いあの時期を瞬時に思い起こさせる一品です。
