A Meal for 0 Baht

I often have vegetarian meals and would usually go to Chiang Mai Vegetarian Club. The first time there, I was surprised to see a sign that writes ‘A Meal for 0 Baht’ (a plate of rice with one side dish). It really was strange to find this type of idea in today’s society, where the word ‘free’ could scarcely be found.

I gave it a thought that if this kind of restaurant exists around the world, the major problem of our lives might be decreased. At least no one will die of starvation. If only there was this kind of welfare, or this alternative in other careers, this world would be lovely place. The society would open more opportunities for the one who lacks. It isn’t such a big burden for the giver too. Each segment could give according to their ability. For example, every segment of career would contribute 5-10% of basic social service from their activities. Suppose in every restaurant that we enter, there will be a section where free food is served. The meal would be very basic and simple, enough for ones who have no income. As for the ones who can afford their own meals, will pay as normal. And if every line of career could act like this, let’s assume how it might be? The society will turn from a solely highest profit business into a business for the society. A place where the members of the society can survive, the business organizations could also thrive.
